Chisago City is approximately fourteen square miles, has an estimated population of 5,000 and is in Chisago County. They are very proud of their strong Swedish heritage here with their sister city in Aulgutsboda, Sweden. They received their name from Indians who settled there long ago. The name Chisago comes from the Chippewa (Ojibway) Indian name referring to Chisago Lake (Kichi-saga sagiagan).
